2018 Olympic Games Team Event Ladies Short Program

Aimee Buchanan, ISR: 25.07 TES + 21.23 PCS = 46.30

  • She started with a Level 4 camel spin
  • She could use a bit more speed to really power the step sequence across the ice and she needs a fe2 more transitions into her jumps
  • Triple toe + double toe a little forward on the landing of the first jump but in the bonus
  • Double axel
  • Triple salchow two footed the landing and under-rotated
  • She has a really nice layback spin
  • Overall a really nice and solid program from her with a lot of nice moments.

Xiangning Li, CHN: 32.65 TES + 25.97 PCS = 58.62 and into 1st place

  • Triple flip + double toe; nice height on the first jump and good flow out
  • Nice position in the camel portion of her combination speed with nice speed and good extension into the upright spin
  • Triple lutz in the bonus two footed the landing
  • Nice spiral into the double axel
  • Very nice closing layback spin
  • She earned Level 4 for her final two spins

Bradie Tennell, USA: 38.94 TES + PCS 30.00 = 68.94 and into 1st place

  • Triple lutz + triple toe a bit tight but she completes it
  • Nice position in the camel spin but she could straighten her bottom leg more through the position change
  • Nice layback into a Biellman
  • Triple loop in the bonus
  • This program is really a much better fit for her artistically and she gets good speed and power to really fit the music
  • Nice spread eagle into a double axel
  • Ending with a nice upright overhead spin
  • Another clean, consistent program for her

Mae Berenice Meite, FRA: 22.79 TES + 24.83 PCS = 46.62 and into 3rd place

  • Triple flip hand down + triple toe hand down
  • Triple lutz with a tough fall and downgraded
  • Double axel
  • This is a very interesting mix of music with a very acoustic version of Halo mixed with Run the World
  • She’s very stiff through the step sequence and needs to get into her knees more to really get across the ice and pick up some speed
  • Ending with a layback spin a bit on the slow side

Nicole Schott, GER: 29.35 TES + 26.97 PCS -1.00 = 55.32 and into 3rd place

  • Triple flip two footed the landing and then fall
  • Triple toe + triple toe
  • Good positions in the camel spin
  • In her combination spin she could use more stretch through her working leg in the upright spin
  • Nice use of the upper body through the step sequence
  • Really strong double axel with a nice landing position

Dabin Choi, KOR:  37.16 TES + 28.57 PCS = 65.73 and into 2nd place

  • Triple lutz + triple toe not a lot of height in the jumps and lacking some speed and flow but that will just be reflected in the GOE
  • Her spins are a bit on the slow side
  • Triple flip
  • Double axel
  • This is such an emotional piece of music (Papa Can You Hear Me) so I would love to see her really find some connection and bring her skating to life more
  • Slow though the step sequence and not pushing into her edges as much as she could
  • Nice Biellman to end the program
  • She earned Level 4 for everything

Carolina Kostner, ITA: 36.96 TES + 38.14 PCS = 75.10 and into 1st place

  • Triple flip + triple toe forward on the landing but hangs on to it
  • Nice triple loop
  • Good camel spin catch foot position
  • There are so many details in this program and she really is the model for how to use every part of your body to tell the story while you’re skating
  • Nice double axel
  • Very cool arm position in the layback spin
  • Love the passion and attack in this step sequence coupled with pauses and long movements to add depth and variety
  • A bit off on the final position of her last spin but what a great program from her
  • Level 4 on her final two spins and the step sequence

Satoko Miyahara, JPN: 34.33 TES + 34.62 PCS = 68.95 and into 2nd place

  • Triple lutz + triple toe under-rotated

  • Good double axel
  • Nice layback into a really stretched out Biellman
  • Very solid throughout
  • All Level 4s

Kaetlyn Osmond, CAN: 35.10 TES + 36.28 PCS = 71.48 and into 2nd place

  • Triple flip turn on one foot + triple toe turnout under-rotated
  • Triple lutz really off in the air but hangs on
  • Double axel
  • Nice Biellman
  • This Sous le ciel de Paris program is such a nice fit for her
  • There was a moment in her step sequence that looks like she got too far forward and might have touched a hand down
  • Great music change building for the final spin
  • Level 4 on all of the spins

Evgenia Medvedeva, RUS: 42.83 TES + 38.23 PCS = 81.06 and into 1st place

  • Really losing her centering on her opening spin but that will only effect GOE
  • An uncharacteristic bobble from her in the step sequence but she doesn’t go down
  • Triple flip one arm + triple toe two arms
  • Triple loop
  • Double axel with one arm
  • Great positions in her combination spin
  • Level 4 on everything
  • Looked like a bit of a tentative performance from her
